Background music

I learned from this that I need background music that the audience is not going to notice but is going to make a difference to the atmosphere of the film, I also found that you need music that isn't flashy but music that the audience will only notice in the crucial moments in the film, for example in the "Hobbit" they basically loop the same songs throughout the films and they play the same songs but the type of songs that fit the scene the best, for example when the camera focuses on the ring they play this, which fits the scene perfectly. obviously I don't have an entire orchestra at hand but I'm planning on something similar.
